Wisconsin Humane Society
Wisconsin’s first animal welfare organization, helping animals and the people who love them since 1879.
Milwaukee, WIWhat they do
Founded in Milwaukee in 1879, the Wisconsin Humane Society is the state’s largest humane society, serving more than 65,000 animals and families each year. It runs shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Brown and Door Counties, plus a spay/neuter clinic in West Allis and a wildlife rehabilitation center at its Milwaukee campus. Beyond adoption, it offers pet food pantries, community outreach, dog training classes, youth programs and affordable veterinary care. It doesn’t euthanize animals in its adoption program for space or time, and each has as long as it takes to find a home.
