How to Choose the Right Size

When it comes to Mumbies, size matters!

In choosing the right size chews, you want to consider the size of your dog, and their chewing style. It is better to have a chew too large over too small.

And here's why...

What makes the coffee wood special is its density. It is quite hard which makes it more resistant to cracking or splintering.

Is it perfect? No! There is no perfect chew, but it is a much safer alternative to the things most dogs are chewing on.

Since it's wood, the smaller the chew the younger the wood. If you have younger wood, it will be less dense and more delicate. So a big dog with a small chew will crush it to pieces. Just like you can snap a twig with your hands.

So when you choose your size, going a little bigger where they can't fully get their mouths around it is a good thing. Why? Because they can tend to gnaw on the ends instead of crushing them with the power of the jaws.

When they gnaw, the chew gets softer. When they crush, it breaks as anything would. It's as simple as that. The good news is that since it's softer and safer for their teeth opposed to something like antler and bone–which could lead to fracturing of their teeth.

So when in doubt, size up. Especially if you have a big time chewer.
